The Fahrenkamp Inc. Story

For the Fahrenkamp family, building seems to run in their blood.  Mark’s Great -Great Grandfather owned and operated a lumber mill where his Grandfather learned to work, driving a truck and sweeping up from the time he was 10 years old.   From his earliest memory, Mark Fahrenkamp was busily engaged in different aspects of the building construction industry.  From his father, he learned the importance of a clean job site.  His early jobs were sweeping and creating piles of scrap lumber and nails.  Before he knew it, Mark was completely  immersed in the different specialties that go into a completed project.  

It wasn’t enough to earn his contractor’s license. Mark spent decades working hands-on in various facets of construction:  concrete work, framing, finish work, commercial, residential, remodel, production construction, and custom building.  He learned a few things.  A lot of things!  He has the actual skill sets to perform nearly every element of a construction project from start to finish.   

There is a magical feeling that Mark gets every time he walks onto a jobsite.  Maybe it’s the smell of curing concrete or fresh cut lumber.  Maybe it’s the satisfaction of seeing a vision take shape, moving from concept to completion. It never gets old.  And he never tires.  

It should come as no surprise that as Mark learned from his father, when he himself became a father, he found himself paying it forward.  His young son John followed his dad through job sites, sweeping or piling up scraps of lumber or nails.  When John was old enough to decide for himself what he wanted to do in life, the choice was easy.  He wanted to build.  He wanted to build just like his grandfather did and he wanted to build side by side with his dad.  

After over a decade of working together each day, the company, Fahrenkamp Inc. has once again refined itself, paving the way for John Fahrenkamp to move into the COO and eventually the CEO position, allowing Mark to set plans in motion for retirement sometime in the coming years.  The constancy of change is embraced by the Fahrenkamp family as they move forward with a carefully envisioned set of plans for their future, the addition of a skilled and well valued team of experts who make success possible, and a daily commitment to excellence.  

And by the way, John has two sons who have spent their childhood following their dad around jobsites, piling up scraps of lumber and nails and trying their hands with a broom.  The oldest has now joined the company.
